It is used in the treatment of infections caused by Fungi in the mouth.

It is used to treat:

Cold sores– Cold sores are caused by a virus that results in painful and burning sores around the lips and areas inside the mouth. The inner side of a check or upper palate.

Canker sores–Canker sores are caused by bacteria that result in painful sores in the mouth.

Thrush–an infection that is caused by yeast, results in white patches inside your mouth.

Leukoplakia –Leukoplakia are white patches of cell growth on the cheeks, gums, or tongue.

Dry mouth – also known as Xerostomia, which is a lack of saliva in the mouth.

Gum Inflammation – Inflammation of the gums.

Daktarin Oral Gel dosage

To treat sore mouth or throat, it is applied internally in the mouth, in the minimum amount as it is highly potent.

For Adults

  • It is advised to apply to the affected area every 4 – 6 hours.

For children

  • For children from age 12 to 16 years.
  • Should apply to the affected area topically 4- 6 times in a day.

For infants

  • Daktarin Oral Gel is not recommended for babies less than 4months of age or those babies who have not developed swallowing reflex.

Storage

  • Tablets should be stored at room temperature, not exceeding 30c. It should be kept in a dry and cool place.
  • It should be kept away from moisture and excessive heat.
  • Make sure to keep out of reach of children.

It is contraindicated in Hypersensitivity to the drug, Milk protein allergy. It should be used with caution in the patients with liver injury. Any symptoms of rash, yellowing of eyes and skin, abdominal pain should be reported to the doctor.

Some necessary precautions should be taken while using Daktarin Oral Gel.

  • Do not use this cream for a longer time than your doctor advised.
  • If any irritation, harmful side effects, or unwanted reactions occur, make sure to consult your doctor immediately.
  • Do not discontinue using this medicine if your doctor has not advised stopping the treatment. Take the full treatment. Do not miss any dose.

Side effects of Daktarin Oral Gel are:

  • Dysgeusia
  • Urticaria
  • Rash
  • Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis
  • Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms
  • Dry mouth
  •  Nausea
  • Diarrhea.
  • Tongue discoloration
  • Sore mouth.
  • Oral discomfort
  • Vomiting
  • Regurgitation

Mild burning or Stinging, Numbness, Irritation may occur.

It is contraindicated in Hypersensitivity to the drug, Milk protein allergy. It should be used with caution in the patients with liver injury. Any symptoms of rash, yellowing of eyes and skin, abdominal pain should be reported to the doctor.
