Esso capsule is used for diseases like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other problems like excessive stomach acidity, or we can say Zollinger Ellison syndrome. 

The generic category of this medicine is an anti-ulcer ant, and the ingredient which is used is Esomeprazole.

Uses 

  • Esso capsule is used to manage the erosive reflux esophagitis, inflammation because of the reflux of stomach contents which come back to the esophagus.
  • It prevents the relapse of esophagitis and to treat diseases like GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).
  • The capsule is likewise utilized for the short-term treatment of reverse of stomach acid to the esophagus; it lessens the occurrence of stomach ulcers identified with the repeated utilization of NSAID's in patients.
  • It is, however, used to treat intestinal ulcers and H. pylori bacterial infection.

How does it work

  • This can work by blocking the proton pump, which is in the stomach cell. When the pump is blocked, so the stomach produces less acid.

How to use

  • The capsule should be taken by mouth with food. Do not chew or crush the tablet; it should be swollen properly with water.
  • Do not overdose, as it may be very risky and can cause problems.

Dosage 

  • The maximum dose for adults: tablet of 40 mg in a day.
  • For inflammation in the food pipe: tablet of 20 to 40 mg for 4 to 8 weeks.
  • For backflow of stomach acid into esophagus: tablet of 20 to 40 mg for 4 weeks
  • For H.pylori intestinal ulcers and bacterial infection: tablet of 20 to 40 mg for 10 days
  • The dosage can increase or reduce, depends on the condition of the patient.
  • Dosage for children (age: 12 years or above): take one tablet of 20 mg twice a day for 1 week
  • Dosage for children (age less than 12 years): The tablet is not used for children.
