This drug is used in men and boys to treat conditions caused by a lack of this hormone, such as delayed puberty, impotence, or other hormonal imbalances. Testosterone injection is also used in women to treat breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.

Precautions

Have regular blood tests while using this medication to check whether the medication is working and whether you are having certain side effects. Also, the use of testosterone may interfere with a number of laboratory tests. Tell all health professionals administering these tests that you are using this medication. Men who use andosterones such as testosterone cypionate may be at an increased risk for developing prostate or breast cancer. Discuss any concerns you may have about this with your doctor. It is important this medication be given exactly as recommended by your doctor. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), corticosteroids (e.g., hydrocortisone, prednisone, methylprednisolone) , cyclosporine, dehydroepiandrosterone, diabetes medications (e.g., chlorpropamide, glipizide, glyburide, insulin, metformin, nateglinide, rosiglitazone), propranolol, warfarin.
